Abstract:

The monograph “Analysis of the Strategic and Operational Situation in Southeastern Europe and the Balkans. Part Two: The Policy of the Great Powers in the Balkans. Analysis of the Demographic, Psychological and Social Aspects of National Security” by Assoc. Prof. Plamen Teodosiev examines the Balkans as a strategic crossroads of global and regional interests and analyses the dynamics of security in Southeastern Europe in the context of contemporary hybrid threats, military-political transformations, and social crises.

The first part explores the policies and instruments of influence employed by NATO, the European Union, the United States, Russia, China, Turkey, and countries of the Middle East, assessing their military, economic, energy-related, cultural, and informational mechanisms of influence.

The second part focuses on the internal dimensions of national security, including demographic decline, migration, social inequalities, institutional distrust, and the psychological vulnerability of societies.

Through an interdisciplinary methodology and comparative country-level analysis, the study offers an integrated model for understanding state resilience and formulates recommendations for strengthening regional stability and the strategic autonomy of the Balkan states.
