“SECURITY AND SAFETY IN THE BLACK SEA”

INVITATION to participate in a Round Table “SECURITY AND SAFETY IN THE BLACK SEA”

The Center for National Security and Defense Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (CNSDR-BAS), jointly with the Institute of Oceanology and the Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamics Center at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, is organizing a round table within the framework of the National Scientific Program “Security and Defense” (NSPSD). The event will provide a forum for discussing opportunities to integrate the results achieved by BAS research teams within national and international programmes and projects addressing security challenges in the Black Sea region.

When: 25 SEP 2026 г. | 10:30 h.

Where: Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamics Center. 1 “William Froude” str., 9003 Varna, Bulgaria

The following topics will be presented and discussed during the event: 1. Prospective areas and priorities in the context of the European Black Sea Strategy and Black Sea maritime security 2. Demonstration of practical applications of space technologies for maritime monitoring: a. Application of thermal data from the Constellr satellite system; b. Presentation of monitoring results from the Persian Gulf. 3. 12th CASSINI Hackathon – EU Space for Peace and Resilience - Information will be provided on the upcoming European innovation competition focused on security, defence and crisis response. The event is organised by CNSDR-BAS in cooperation with the Technical University of Gabrovo and the Defence Institute at the Ministry of Defence.
